2020-21 Alternate Auditions

2020 Northeast Kansas District Choir Audition Procedures for Students selected for National Ensembles

Student for will record the TWO audition pieces in their entirety and the four-measure sight-singing excerpt (the procedures as they are administered at district auditions will be followed). Students will have one opportunity, i.e. "one take" on each audition piece and sight singing, to match the parameters of the live audition.

These recordings will be done at Blue Valley North HS on Monday, November 2, 2020, beginning at 7:00 PM. This date and time are also posted on the ECKMEA website and it has been communicated to all ECKMEA choir directors via email.

The recordings created for National Ensemble members will be played for the respective judges on the day of District Auditions (Saturday, November 7, 2020) so as to maintain consistency in judging. Recordings will be judged using the same rubric as live auditions and will ONLY include the same excerpts that will be played by the live audition students (i.e. the choir chair will edit the student's performance so that ONLY the required materials are presented).

EVERY PRECAUTION WILL BE TAKEN TO ENSURE THE VALIDITY AND FAIRNESS OF THE AUDITION PROCESS.

This recorded audition option is only offered to students selected to perform in a NAfME National Ensemble due to the fact that KMEA and NAfME are affiliated organizations. All other students will be required to attend live auditions.
